Announcement: Scheduled PHP version upgrading

Dear Valued Clients,

Thank you for hosting with Exabytes Network.

At Exabytes, we always strive to provide the best service and latest web hosting technology to our valued clients.

To ensure all our servers’ software are up to date and vulnerability free, we have scheduled an upgrade on all our shared and reseller hosting servers to the newer PHP version.

http://php.net/supported-versions.php

What Should I do?

As the upgrade is a major version change, we strongly advise all our clients to ensure all custom written applications running on our servers are fully compatible with PHP 5.6. Kindly check with your in-house webmaster/outsource webmaster/programmer regarding this matter.

Maintenance Timeline

We understand code changes and compatibility checks take time. This upgrade exercise will start at the following schedule:

April 2016

All newly setup servers will use PHP 5.6 as default during setup.

Linux hosting

Clients have the option to select PHP 5.3, 5.4, 5.5 or 7.0 in selection using PHP.

Windows hosting

Clients may contact our support team using primary contact to switch the PHP version from server end via PHP Manager.

----------------------------------------

Second quarter of 2017

Linux hosting

We will remove PHP 5.3 to 5.5 from the selection and all hosting accounts will move to PHP 5.6 as default.

Windows hosting

We will revert the setting and set PHP 5.6 as default.

----------------------------------------

Affected servers

All Exabytes Linux and Windows Shared hosting servers that are running PHP.

If you are using a custom php.ini file which PHP modules references are not available with PHP 5.6, your site may not work.

You may remove the custom php.ini file and let it refer to server default php.ini or create a php.ini file that is compatible with PHP 5.6.

What is php.ini?

It is the file for you to declare changes to your PHP settings.
