Announcement: End-of-Life (EOL) Support for CentOS 7, CloudLinux 7, Ubuntu 18.04, and Debian 10

Dear clients,

We have important news regarding the End-of-Life (EOL) support for several operating systems that may affect your subscriptions. Please read the following information carefully to understand the impact and the steps you need to take.

Affected Operating Systems

  • CentOS 7 & CloudLinux 7: EOL on June 30, 2024

  • Ubuntu 18.04: EOL since May 2023, extended support by Plesk until September 30, 2024

  • Debian 10: EOL on June 30, 2024

What This Means for You

After the above dates, these operating systems will no longer receive security updates from their upstream vendors, which will make them more vulnerable to potential security issues. To mitigate these risks, cPanel and Plesk are introducing an Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) program for Plesk and cPanel subscribers.

Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) Program

For Plesk Customers:
  • CentOS 7 & CloudLinux 7: July 1, 2024, to January 1, 2026

  • Ubuntu 18.04 & Debian 10: October 1, 2024, to July 1, 2025

For cPanel Customers:
  • CentOS 7 & CloudLinux 7: July 1, 2024, to January 1, 2026

Benefits of ELS:
  • Continued Security Updates: We have partnered with TuxCare to deliver critical security updates for CentOS 7, CloudLinux 7, and Ubuntu 18.04. Plesk will continue full-scope product updates, but note that Debian 10 is not eligible for TuxCare updates.

  • Access to Support: Both Plesk and cPanel will continue to provide support for users on the ELS program.

  • Smoother Transition: The ELS program gives you additional time to plan your migration to a supported operating system.

Important Fee Information

Starting August 1, 2024, there will be an additional monthly fee for ELS Support per qualifying license. This fee will appear on your next renewal invoice and continue until the underlying operating system is upgraded to a supported version. The first month (July 2024) for CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 servers, and for Ubuntu 18.04 and Debian 10 servers up to September 30, 2024 will be free of charge.

Next Steps

We urge you to start planning your migration strategy now. Assess your current setup, explore supported operating systems, and utilize the provided tools to ensure a smooth transition before the ELS period ends. For detailed information and support, please contact our support teams directly via https://support.exabytes.com

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We are here to support you through this transition and ensure the security and stability of your servers.

Best Regards,
